One of the most rewarding things you can do as a musician is to share your music with people who truly love it. To see the joy on people's faces as they dance and sway to your music is a truly beautiful thing.
Recently, we lost a great friend of ours, Carole Mann, after she passed away after a stroke. She was like a mother to us all and would bring me CDs and say, "Listen to this song, I think you would do a marvelous job of it!" A couple of those songs have made it onto our songlist and everytime we play them, I can think of wonderful memories of an amazing human being. Rest in peace Carole. We just did a memorial blues jam for her at her favourite place, The Blue Gator, and the everyone there brought the most amazing energy to the place all in the name of Carol. The owner, Moby, gave the family the bar as it is usually closed on Sundays and only available for rent and we all donated our time and had some of the best fun in recent memory!
It reminded me once again why I play this music(as if I need any reminders!) I play because I must. It is not only cathartic but transforming to be able to share your music and have it received well. Very grateful indeed to be able to do what we do for a living. It ain't easy but that's what makes it all worth while.
Much peace to all and check out some of our pals at the links below!
